QA/QC Engineer (Welding)

Role and responsibility synopsis

Plan, coordinate and direct quality program for VRP, TRP and Flowlines designed to ensure consistency with established standards. Establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product and direct inspectors over testing activities

·     Develop local contractors and personnel as part of the national development program.

·     Review contract documents to ensure identification and comprehension of quality requirements.

·     Participate in internal & external audits and assessments.

·     Supervise Other Contractors QC personnel.

·     Implement Project inspection and test Plans, collate Inspection Results and coordinate field inspection activities.

·     Identify specific requirements in the contract, which require to be addressed separately and need to be controlled through specific procedures. Prepare accordingly documents relevant to data control, inspection reporting procedure, technical queries and procedures for deviation requests.

·     Coordinate all inspection requirements.

·     Integrate with and work alongside the quality team and perform all related tasks as and when requested by the Quality Lead.

·     Ensure all work is correctly prepared prior to any inspection being undertaken.

·     Review all inspection reports for compliance.

·     Liaise with the site construction engineers and provide assistance when requested.

·     Prepare non-conformance reports to and assist in developing corrective actions.

·     Coordinate with the site contractors to ensure that communications exist and are maintained.

·     Assist the site contractors in the resolution of specification interpretation.

·     Review work procedures and method statements for compliance with good work practices and the customers contract specializations.

·     The issuance of non-conformance reports.

·     The completion of QC site instructions and coordinate their closure.

·     Review of inspection test packages during the course of construction activities.

·     Ensure installation in compliance with project specifications, drawings and applicable code requirements.

·     Monitor performance of contractors, ensure personnel are qualified and competent to perform allocated tasks, have valid certification, where required, for the techniques in use.

·      Monitor calibration status and condition of Inspection/Test and Measuring instruments.

·     Coordinate with construction supervisors for timely issue of RFI’s as work progress.

·     Reports inspection results and quality performance to related Discipline Leader on a daily basis.

·     Ensure closure of all RFI’s and related inspection/test records (ITRs) immediately after successful completion of each inspection.

·     Report weekly RFI and ITR closure status to discipline leader at the end of the each working day.

·     Monitor completion of system/sub system in his area based on previously forecasted ITR’s

·     Can take all decisions related to inspection, welding, material and NDT. Perform other decisions in consultation with Quality Lead and Project Manager.

·     All actions and review by the quality engineer has direct impact on quality, cost and time of the project.

Criteria & Qualifications

Skills and Experience: 

·         Digree / Diploma or equivalent in relevant Engineering discipline

·         Minimum 10 year Oil & Gas experience

·         Proven experience within a similar role in the Oil and Gas Industry.

·         Previous experience working with a major EPC contractor.

·         IRCA or equivalent Lead Auditor preferable

·         CSWIP 3.2 / PCN Level II / AWS CWI

·         Member of recognised Engineering / Quality Institute desirable

·         Understanding of Conventional NDT methods

·         PCN / ASNT Level 2 Radiography Interpretation

·         NACE / BGAS / ICorr certification a plus.
